DEFINITION

  • Storm surges and tidal waves interact. That is, the storm surge modifies the tide while the tidal cycle produces alterations in the storm surge. The main causes that produce these interactions are the effects of bottom friction and the variation of the wave propagation speed (which is dependent on total depth).
