DEFINITION

  • Deformed wing virus (DWV) is relatively widespread in apiaries, although often present in subclinical form (no symptoms are visible) if not associated with varroa. However, combined with varroa, DWV can cause the death of the brood and adult bees. This virus affects immature bees during their development in the cells.
