  • European foulbrood is a bacterial disease of honey bees. It is caused by the bacterium Melissococcus plutonius (M. plutonius), often associated with other bacteria. These include Enterococcus faecalis, Achromobacter eurydice, Paenibacillus alvei and Bacillus laterosporus.
