Dermatofilosis  

DEFINITION

  • Bacterial disease caused by Dermatophilus congolensis. The disease has been observed in several species of domestic and wild animals. Those most frequently affected are cattle, sheep, goats, and horses. The importance of dermatophilosis lies in the economic losses it causes,due to the damage to leather, wool, and pelts. In rare cases it has been observed in humans handling infected animals.
