kromosom-manipulering

DEFINITION

  • Chromosome manipulation is the alteration of chromosome numbers to produce polyploids such as triploid and tetraploid. Chromosome set manipulation, i.e. alteration of the chromosome set, is used for a range of different purposes in agriculture. In fish and plants, this technique has been used to induce polyploidy (to create sterile individuals) and for uniparental chromosome inheritance (valuable in breeding programmes and for the establishment of monosex populations).
